All ships in the programme are ice-strengthened and come with a first-class expedition guide to organise all of your explorations on the ice. Naturally all ships are equipped with everything you'll need like Zodiac and tender boats, but some will offer even more including helicopters and even submarines to explore whats below the surface - the options are almost endless!

Guide Prices

When you enquire, we will take down all your requirements and then begin to make enquiries about the availability of vessels that will match with what you are looking for. The price of your charter will depend on a number of factors, but the main variables are the size of ship, luxury level and the crew and equipment required to fulfil your needs. The price is normally made up of the following elements;

Charter Fee

This is the cost of chartering the vessel and normally includes full access to the ship's facilities along with the captain, crew and typically 1 first-class expedition guide to run that side of your cruise. The charter fee normally includes up to 2 outings / landings per day, but this can be tailored depending on your requirements. Prices range from £160,000 - £800,000 per week and vessels generally carry 12 guests, though some can accommodate up to 22 guests.

Provisioning Fee

In addition to the charter fee, you will pay a provisioning fee. This is the cost of provisioning your charter and includes the fuel, food, drinks and port fees. Typically the fee will be around 30% - 40% of the charter fee payable in advance, and the Captain will then keeps tabs on this throughout your cruise with the final tally presented at the end of your charter. Any balance is then refunded back to you.

Relocation Fee

If the ship you require has to be relocated from another area of the world , then a relocation fee may be payable. This is not always required as a number of vessels base themselves in the Polar regions each season. 

Gratuity

It is customary when chartering yachts to provide the crew with a gratuity at the end of your charter, typically around 10% of the charter fee. This can be taken out of your provisioning fee if there is any balance left over and of course the exact level is at your discretion.

Flights for Antarctica

If you would like to skip the Drake Passage and join your charter ship in Antarctica then this can be easily arranged. Flights from Punta Arenas in Chile, to King George Island in Antarctica cost US$125,000 each way for the aircraft. The cost could be halved dependent on the aircraft being able to be utilised in both directions by other charters and we'll advise on this when you make your enquiry.
