You will arrive in Ushuaia, the Southernmost city in the world, the day before your expedition cruise. You will get a transfer from the airport to your pre-cruise hotel on arrival.

This morning, enjoy breakfast, followed by a short sightseeing tour of Ushuaia, the world's southernmost city, with a unique backdrop of mountains, sea, glaciers and forests. You'll then embark, and have time to settle into your cabin.

As you commence your trip across the South Atlantic Ocean, make the most of your time getting comfortable with the motions of the sea. The AE Expeditions team will prepare you for your first landing with important wildlife guidelines and biosecurity procedures and start a lecture program to help you learn more about the region’s history, wildlife and environment. Your wildlife experiences begin as you enjoy watching and photographing the many seabirds, including majestic albatrosses and giant petrels following in the wake of the ship. They rise and fall skillfully, using air currents created by the ship to gain momentum.

The Antarctic Peninsula is a bustling metropolis of wildlife in late spring, but despite the frenetic pace of life for the locals, you have ample time to immerse yourself in the wonders of the surrounding environment. Over the next eight days, you will settle into the natural rhythms of life in the Antarctic Peninsula. Your experienced expedition team will use their expertise to design your voyage day to day, choosing the best options based on the prevailing weather, ice conditions and wildlife spotting opportunities.

Enjoy a final morning landing in the South Shetland Islands before your ship re-enters the Drake Passage for your return journey to South America.
