When Lars-Eric Lindblad set out with the first groups of expedition travelers in the late 1950s, he was following his passion to discover unknown places and to share the unique cultural and environmental aspects of these places with others. Today Lindblad Expeditions is focused on finding creative ways to explore the places already discovered. Their growing fleet of small expedition ships, Zodiacs, sea kayaks, onboard naturalists and underwater cameras are all examples of how Lindblad continually strives to help open the eyes of guests when it comes to truly exploring.

In 2004, two exemplary organizations joined forces. As their mission statement noted, "Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic have joined forces to further inspire the world through expedition travel. Our collaboration in exploration, research, technology, and conservation provides extraordinary travel experiences and disseminates geographic knowledge around the globe."

The alliance is a natural fit between a trail-blazing expedition company founded by a renowned explorer, Lars-Eric Lindblad, and National Geographic, the iconic brand known for its magazine, Society and roster of explorers past and current. It created a wonderful proposition for today's travelers.

Now, guests can travel on a fleet of sleek expedition vessels to the world's most extraordinary places in the company of world-renowned scientists, naturalists and researchers, exploring alongside skilled specialists using state-of-the-art exploration tools.

And good news for photo enthusiasts - every expedition aboard National Geographic Explorer and National Geographic Orion is accompanied by a National Geographic photographer. There are many opportunities ahead to travel with interesting National Geographic and other experts, from field researchers you haven't heard of yet, to names you know.
