The ship is a marvellous piece of history loved by many travellers.
The M/S Stockholm was built in 1953 for the Swedish Maritime Administration, it is only in 1998 that she underwent a complete refurbishment. This will also mark the start of her career as a comfortable polar ship.
The ship can take up to 12 passengers in twin cabins with bunk beds. Each cabin has private facilities and a small window (porthole). After 20 years of navigating the waters in Svalbard, she has the track record of being able to reach places where no other ships can venture.
You will enjoy delicious meals in the company of fellow travellers fascinated by the Arctic’s fauna, flora and history. All beverages are included in the price and with such a small group navigating with you, it is like being in a private yacht!
The crew on board are very experienced and passionate about wildlife and unspoiled nature, that’s why a trip on board MS Stockholm is so fascinating and enjoyable. They will provide two Zodiacs and two guides for you to explore the Arctic’s most remote places and pristine sites.
Polar Specialist Ben Rowley says; "It’s like stepping back in time when getting onboard MS Stockholm, in a very good way. From the polished brass and walnut-clad bridge to the homely dining table area it’s a true expedition feeling onboard a boat, rather than a ship. I love the undercover BBQ area on the back deck and especially love the 10-metre mast on the bow to spot wildlife from with the expedition leader."
