The MS Balto is the latest addition to Polar Quest's fleet of small expedition ships. Named after the leading sled dogs of 1925 Nome serum run. Built for the highest ice class in Rauma, Finland, she has now been refurbished into one of the most spacious and elegant small polar expedition vessels in service. Offering relaxed luxury accommodation for 12 guests in 7 outside cabins, all with private facilities and lower beds, the MS Balto truly is one-of-a-kind when it comes to small polar expedition ships. Travelling on this unique 12-passenger ship offers a completely different and much more intimate experience of Greenland compared to a large expedition ship.
The spacious cabins onboard include 1 Owners Suite, 1 suite, 3 double cabins and 2 single cabins. There is a large restaurant-style open galley, and several open and semi-enclosed deck spaces to enjoy the Arctic scenery.
The ship has been fitted with electric-diesel propulsion capable of maintaining versatile manoeuvring with little vibration. There is a mudroom for expedition gear and 2 Zodiacs for wilderness cruises and offshore experiences. A small group of 12 guests allows for more flexibility, more unique itineraries and more time ashore.
