This 12-day voyage takes you to the Weddell Sea and the Seventh Continent. Departing Ushuaia, cross the Drake Passage to the South Shetland Islands, arriving on the third day (weather permitting). The unique X-Bow design of Ocean Albatros ensures a smooth ride, maximizing your time in Antarctica for an unforgettable exploration.

The ship will continue south to the Antarctic Peninsula, entering the Gerlache Strait, where towering ice cliffs and jagged peaks dominate the landscape. The icy Weddell Sea follows, a vast wilderness once thought impassable. Here, you'll witness some of the planet's most pristine nature and wildlife in a short time.

Albatros Expeditions' experienced Captain and Expedition Leader will guide your adventure, making Zodiac landings for penguin rookeries, research stations, and historical sites. You’ll also cruise through icy waters filled with giant icebergs, whales, and seals. While wildlife sightings depend on nature, a variety of species await.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Ushuaia, embarkation

Arrive in Ushuaia, Argentina, the southernmost city in the world. Explore the vibrant town, stretch your legs in nearby forests, or take a day trip into the wild beauty of Tierra del Fuego. Hike through snow-capped mountains, glaciers, meadows, and wetlands. In the afternoon, board your vessel and settle in.

After the safety drill, your expedition begins as you sail through the calm Beagle Channel, named for Darwin's ship. This strait separates Tierra del Fuego between Chile and Argentina and has been the launch point for countless expeditions. Keep an eye out for whales and dolphins as you head into the stormy Drake Passage.
